Frank Stanek, Ph.D., Regional Sales Manager for nSpire Health, Co-authors Chapter in Science and Skiing IV

Longmont, Colorado, USA – June 2009 – Frank Stanek, Ph.D. Regional Sales Manager for nSpire Health, co-authored “Respiratory and Metabolic Demands of Field Versus Laboratory Tests in Young Competitive Alpine Ski Racers”, a chapter included in the newly released research publication Science and Skiing IV .

Science and Skiing IV is a compilation of research and findings specifically related to Nordic and Alpine skiing, essentially the proceedings from the Fourth International Congress on Science and Skiing, which was held at St. Christoph am Arlberg, Tyrol, Austria. The book serves as a reference manual for exercise physiology research exploring the metabolic demands of skiing.

Stanek’s chapter is a comparison of metabolic demands of measured values in a laboratory versus an actual alpine event. He co-wrote the manuscript with Dr. Duvillard, a visiting Professor in the Department of Sport Science at the University of Salzburg in Austria, and Dr. Bacharach, a Professor and chair of the Department of Sport Sciences at St. Cloud University in Minnesota, USA.

“It’s a real privilege to be a part of this great scientific organization which focuses specifically on cutting edge research in Nordic and Alpine skiing. Being able to contribute pertinent data through classic research only helps to improve the coaching techniques and overall performance of these sports,”   said Frank Stanek.

“nSpire Health is proud to employ dedicated employees that remain focused on our vision of revolutionizing the way the world detects and treats respiratory diseases,” said Michael Sims, President and CEO of nSpire Health.
